Staying connected in Los Cabos
Before leaving for Los Cabos, check how your phone plan works in Mexico. A few minutes of preparation can make it easier to find your accommodation, contact an operator and access booking details when you need them.
Ask your provider before traveling
Confirm whether your plan includes calls, messages and data in Mexico, whether roaming needs activation and what limits or extra charges apply. Do not assume that a plan advertised for international travel covers every service in the same way.
If you're considering a local SIM or travel eSIM, check device compatibility and whether your phone is unlocked. Review the provider's coverage information and save setup instructions before departure.
Keep essential details offline
Save your accommodation address, transfer instructions, vouchers and contact numbers. Download a map for the areas you expect to visit. A screenshot can be useful, but keep the full meeting instructions as well.
Carry a charger and, if helpful, a portable battery. A working connection is less useful if your phone runs out of power before the return journey.
Check calling and WiFi arrangements
Mexican national phone numbers use 10 digits. The old 01, 044 and 045 prefixes are no longer used. For calls from abroad, use your provider's current international dialing instructions and the contact's published number.
At your accommodation, ask about Wi-Fi coverage and any charges if you need to work or make video calls. Do not assume every room has the same connection. Avoid entering sensitive information through networks you do not trust.
Prepare enough to stay connected when you need it, then leave yourself room to enjoy the trip away from the screen too.
