Sports in Cabo

The incredible subtropical climate, warm waters, year-round sunshine and clear, blue skies of Los Cabos, Mexico mean one thing for outdoor active sports lovers: fun.

Sportfishing in Cabo is one of the most popular ways to get in on the action at Land’s End, where the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean are literally teeming with record-sized billfish, earning it the well-deserved title of “marlin capital of the world.” Expert anglers will want to enter one of half a dozen fishing derbies, including the Bisbee’s International, with big prize bucks for reeling in the top monster fish.

Another Cabo Sport that has become a real crowd pleaser is teeing off on seven area golf courses that boast enviable greens that skirt the ocean. Among the top draws are 18-hole Cabo del Sol and 18-hole Palmilla, both designed by golf great Jack Nichlaus, 18-hole Cabo Real by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Querencia, an 18-hole championship course by Tom Fazio.

In the desert when temperatures soar, people beat the heat and keep their cool by taking to the refreshing waters that surround them for a plethora of watersports. Snorkelers and SCUBA divers rejoice in the incredible underwater tours which bring them face to face with some of the sea life that make up Jacques Cousteau’s “Aquarium of the World”. Wind surfers and kite boarders harness the trade winds off East Cape’s Sea of Cortez. And surfers hang ten off the breaks along Costa Azul.
